Our valuable work includes:
Emergency relief
When the country is in crisis, St John Ambulance stands ready with the people and resources to be a fully integrated part of the statutory ambulance, police and fire services’ response, working alongside local authorities and the NHS.
We have made a valuable difference during emergencies such as the 2005 7/7 attacks in London, the floods of summer 2007 and the winter of 2007/8, when severe weather and a norovirus outbreak saw the NHS ambulance service under unprecedented pressure.
Events
We provide first aid cover at high profile events locally and nationally, such as the London Marathon, Wimbledon and Notting Hill Carnival, treating around 130,000 casualties every year.
Community
We respond to the local needs of communities. Through our care programmes we give vital support to the most vulnerable people in society, such as the elderly, homeless, underprivileged and young carers.
Youth
With over 26,000 youth members, we are one of the country’s leading youth organisations. As well as having fun, we help young people to become confident first aiders and to develop interpersonal and life skills by offering them a wide range of learning opportunities which benefit both themselves and the wider community.
Training
Every year we train over 550,000 people of all ages in first aid and are clearly recognised as the market leader in first aid training for both the home and the workplace.
