Save the Children UK works in 53 countries around the world, including the UK. Founded in 1919, we work to achieve dramatic change for children. We respond to emergencies, providing vital life-saving aid. And we stay long after the cameras have left, rebuilding shattered lives. In the UK we're tackling child poverty, and we're pressuring the government to keep its promise to halve child poverty in the UK by 2010.

We have long-term programmes in countries where children are marginalised, hungry, threatened, impoverished, and denied their basic rights. Our hunger, health, education and protection work aims to come up with long-lasting solutions to these ongoing problems affecting the poorest children. Our work on rights and economic justice looks to research and explain the underlying causes of the hardship so many children suffer.

We’re the world’s independent children’s charity. We’re outraged that millions of children are still denied proper healthcare, food, education and protection. We’re working flat out to get every child their rights and we’re determined to make further, faster changes. How many? How fast? It’s up to you.
