The Salvation Army

United Kingdom Territory with the Republic of Ireland

The Salvation Army is a modern community-based evangelical church and charity, committed to social action.  The Salvation Army demonstrates its Christian principles in practical ways.  We are hard at work caring for people in need across the United Kingdom and Ireland

Local Salvation Army church and community centres offer a range of activities and services.  We work with homeless people, children, families and disabled people; provide addiction services; care for older people; run Family Tracing Service, chaplaincy and other work in prisons and for the Armed Forces.  The Salvation Army also supports the emergency services by providing refreshments, shelter and counselling at major incidents

Our Impact

The Salvation Army’s views on social, moral and ethical issues are sought and listened to by opinion formers from national and local Government to leaders in the religious world and experts in social services.  Our credibility comes from our engagement on the frontline, working daily with thousands of people in need and our commitment to finding and brokering long-term solutions.

In practical terms, every year the Salvation Army;

·         Services two million meals to people in need

·         Reunites over 3,000 people

·         Helps 1,300 people to successfully move from homelessness to independent living

·         Assists emergency services at 150 major incidents

·         Provides professional addiction services to 1,000 people at any time
