The Prince’s Trust is the UK’s leading youth charity helping change young lives
We give practical and financial support to 14-30 year olds, enabling them to develop skills that will help them move into education, employment or training.
Our priority is to help young people who are:
è educational underachievers
è offenders and ex-offenders
è unemployed
è in or leaving care
Our work is important because:
è more than one million young people in the UK are not in work, education or training
è the UK economy loses £10 million a day due to youth unemployment
è youth crime costs the UK £1 billion each year
Since 1976 we have helped 575,000 young people and we support 100 more each day.
To continue our work, we need to raise around £1 million every week.
The Prince’s Trust helps young people to:
è develop confidence, skills and prepare for work through a structured 12-week personal development course, and short courses offering opportunities to gain vocational experience in a variety of industries
è improve motivation and attendance at school through our network of clubs
è start-up in business with start-up loans and grants plus advice and support from a business mentor
è give back to the community through financial awards to groups and individuals for community-based projects
è overcome barriers and get their lives working with cash awards of between £50 and £500 and mentor support for those leaving care
